CHICAGO – At first glance, you might not think URLs like FloridaBreakingNews.com, MiamiBreakingNews.com or OrlandoBreakingNews.com would have any relevance to the Chicago-based Tribune Company and its Chicago Tribune newspaper.
When remembering that the media conglomerate is amid a state of drastic change to find its new corporate (and profitable) identity, though, the concept of the Chicago company wanting to improve its ability to publish breaking local news in other cities beyond the Windy City isn’t a moonshot.
Using a legal tool called Name Server Spy from DomainTools, MidwestBusiness.com has exclusively learned that the Tribune Company has made some very recent domain changes as of Sept. 11, 2008 that could reveal the plan to reinvigorate its local news coverage in areas beyond its Chicago backyard.
The below screenshot of our discovery shows that FloridaBreakingNews.com, MiamiBreakingNews.com, OrlandoBreakingNews.com and SouthFloridaBreakingNews.com have all been taken over by Tribune.com, which is the domain of the Tribune Company.

Name Server Spy from Domain Tools is daily monitoring technology that tells you when domain ownership has changed from a wide array of domain extensions. As of publication of this report, nothing is available to be seen at the four Floridian domains.
The Tribune Company does also own the Orlando Sentinel and South Florida Sun-Sentinel newspapers.
