CHICAGO – As a business and technology reporter, it is my duty to be beyond reproach when it comes to reporting on individuals, entities and ideas impacting technological development in the Midwest.

However, as a Bears fan an unabashed Rex Grossman loyalist, I have a new favorite Web site: RexGrossman.com. I can’t say it or print it enough.

I find myself strolling the frozen streets of the Windy City this week whistling a medley of “Bear Down,” the “Super Bowl Shuffle” and the vastly underrated “Grabowsky Shuffle” from the strike-shortened fall of 1987.

Making it to the big game happens literally once a generation, so if you’re a Bears fan, now is the time to make hay. Accordingly, I could not resist writing about my new favorite Web site, which of all places is based in the heart of Indiana.

Chicago Bears helment RexGrossman.com is more than just a cheesy fan site selling overpriced jerseys with mid-1990s functionality.

Built by Web entrepreneur Brad Bostic – who happens to be Grossman’s brother-in-law – RexGrossman.com is a repository for all that has been good to Grossman since he led Bloomington South in Indiana to the 5A Title in 1998.

As Grossman suits up to battle his home-team Colts for the privilege of hoisting the Vince Lombardi Trophy on his still-broadening shoulders, Bostic – who himself recently raised $6 million from investors including Amazon.com’s Jeff Bezos to fund ChaCha – is putting his pet Web site to some good use.

For all the ill-informed national prognosticators and locals who refuse to believe, Bostic is compiling a table of statistics showing that Grossman in his first full year as a starter has a higher passer rating and more favorable statistics than Brett Favre, Terry Bradshaw and even Peyton Manning.

Take a look at these numbers:

Stats

It is important to note that Grossman didn’t play a full season until his fourth year in the NFL. That’s what happens when you sacrifice your body twice while trying to win games for your teammates and fans.

Further, in 2004 and much of 2005, the Bears offense was the laughing stock of the NFL. It’s not like Grossman had Sterling Sharpe, Lynn Swan or Marvin Harrison to throw to entering this season. He is a winner and win is what he will do this Sunday.

After that, RexGrossman.com will be on hand to record a career that no doubt will be enshrined in that other great Midwestern market: Canton, Ohio. For all you Colts fans, wasn’t beating the Patriots enough?
